The Gift of Art – Memories are Made of This – Post #3 of 3 : May 2024 Blog

There are events in life when something happens that we know can never be repeated. We have experienced any number of these and thankfully have been able to document many such happenings, before they got lost in the mists of time. The Bonspiel featured in my four paintings, shown in this Masterworks reveal, is a prime example of such an experience - once witnessed, it could not be ignored and therefore never forgotten.

A spontaneous, outdoor Bonspiel is a rare thing indeed these days, what with constricting regulations and unpredictable weather. When a last-minute phone call alerted us to the fact that one was possible on a farm in Sutherland, thanks to a frozen flooded field, we leapt into action, packed the car and spent the day gathering reference material for what we knew could be a significant painting, chronicling an historical event.

Read More about ‘Bonspiel 2009’ our Fund-Raising, Limited-Edition Print, published by us in aid of the North Highland Curling Trust – whose work keeps the tradition of this historic game alive.

Watch the Masterworks reveal and join us in the fund-raising event that launched our print – which took place in a barn on the same farm, overlooked by cattle lowing in the byre alongside. An unconventional showing of my work, as can be seen – but in keeping with our policy of holding fund-rising events in everyday places.

NOTE – the smallest painting in this set of four, a miniature, was painted especially as my gift to Eileen for one of her ‘significant’ birthdays – capturing our own memory of a very special January day.

If you would like to purchase one of our fund-raising prints, or another from our collection – simply email us (click here) with your initial enquiry and we will be back in touch to take things forward. Whether it’s a treat for yourself, or a gift for someone special, we take great care of your requirements and we’re delighted to gift-wrap with our compliments. For every sale of any one of the prints featured here, we hand over £90 (GB) to the relevant charity.

We thank you for reading our latest news and for your continued interest in our work and, as ever, send best wishes, from Eileen and myself,”
